I am pleased to announce that have a special introductory price of £49 these one-day lessons. These will take place on Sundays and Wednesdays, plus other days depending on demand. Other lessons are in the pipeline and will include walking lessons taking in some of Glasgow's photographic landmarks, both in during the day and in the evening.

Christmas Shows and Photography Classes
28/11/2011
I will be showing my work at Merchant Square at Candleriggs, Glasgow, each Saturday and Sunday in the run up to Christmas. I may also be there on the weekdays running up to Christmas, as the market is open for last minute shoppers.
Updates may also appear on my Tony Clerkson Photographer page on Facebook, which you can visit by clicking the icon above. Please 'like' to receive latest news and updates at short notice.

There is still time to order products in time for Christmas deliver, but with a couple of weeks lead time, time is running out. Place your orders soon to guarantee timely delivery.

In the new year, I will be running photography classes on weekdays or weekends, depending on demand. The aim of the class is to help DSLR users to move from the camera's 'auto' settings onto 'manual' setting, which gives you full creative control. A lot of people get intimidated by 'the technical stuff' and I was one of those. This class will show you that it's not as difficult to make the transition as you might imagine and you will soon be shooting with confidence. I will also provided tips on compositional skills. By the end of the day, you will be able to take better photographs. You will need your own DSLR camera and preferably a tripod as well.

If you would like to put your name on a mailing list for this class, please use the contact form on this website stating 'Photo Classes'.

I hope you enjoy the run up to Christmas. All the best.
Nikon Photo of the Month - Winner!
26/08/2011
I've just heard that I've won the Nikon Photo of the Month for the second month in a row. Thanks very much to all of the people who took the time to vote for my image, it's very much appreciated. Thanks also to the judges at Nikon who put me on the shortlist for the public vote in the first place.
Last month's winning photo can also be seen here. Winning these competitions has certainly given me a boost, so thanks again to all those who participated. I hope I can kick on from here and look forward to posting more images on the website. As ever, if you have any comments, questions or feedback, or would like to discuss potential commissions, please feel free to get in touch.

Best wishes, Tony.
Nikon Photo of the Month - Public Vote
04/08/2011
Following on from winning the Nikon Photo of the Month competition for May, I'm delighted to have been shortlisted for the current competition. The format is different this time. Until now, the winning photo was chosen by a panel of judges. This time, they choose a shortlist which then goes to a public vote.
My photo, Tapestry, can be seen on my home page and viewed in the Lines & Curves gallery. If you would like to vote for my image, please visit the Nikon website. One lucky voter will win a fantastic camera in the raffle! Thanks in advance for taking the time to place a vote.
Renfrewshire Cup Final.
17/07/2011
Photographws from the Renfrewshire Cup Final featuring St Mirren versus Morton be can be viewed on a page I have set up on Flickr here. If you are interesting in any non-watermarked images in a high resolution for stock or other use, please get in touch by using the contact form.
Competition win
30/06/2011
Thinking Of England, the photo on the front page which features in the Capturing The Moment gallery, has been chosen as the Nikon In-Frame Photo of the Month competition winner, with the theme being 'Reportage'. The prize of a D3100 camera will undoubtedly come in handy, but the fact it was chosen by Paul Hackett, makes it even better.
As ever, thanks for looking in to the website. If you require prints of any of my images or have any proposals for a commission, I will be pleased to hear from you. I am also making many photos available for use as stock. If you click on the Alamy link on the home page, it will take you to a specific page for me where you can search for images using key words. If you have any queries, or if there are any images on my website that you would like to use but you can't find on Alamy, please get in touch with me directly.
Peace campaigner Brian Haw
19/06/2011
Peace campaigner Brian Haw, who spent the best part of a decade protesting on Parliament Square against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan has died after losing his fight with lung cancer. There are a couple of photographs of him on the eve of his 9th anniversary on the square.
It took me a while to realise what I was looking at, but it slowly dawned on me that the placard to his right featured a victim of the truly horrific effects of depleted uranium. It has been alleged that NATO continues to use depleted uranium in it's 'humanitarian' bombing in Libya. Photos of Brian Haw and his protest can be seen in the Documentary gallery.
New Galleries
13/04/2011
I have a couple of new galleries for you to look at, one a reportage of the Scottish League Cup Final involving Celtic and Rangers. As well as photos of the fans before and during the game, there's a series of action shots as play raged on.
The other gallery is one with Filters, which I've played around to give some regular shots a different feel. Sometimes the result is something akin to a polaroid, other times you are left with a highly saturated effect which I acknowledge won't be to everyone's taste.

I hope you enjoy the photos. Prints and products are available for purchase (see the menu on the left for details of what's available and how they might look on your wall) and can be made in sizes ranging from postcard size to cover a whole wall at 180cm x 120cm (6ft x 4ft). If you are interested in any products, please get in touch here and we can discuss your requirements. As ever, comments and feedback on the photos or the website are always welcome.

Are you a company looking for new artwork for your office? I have a range of exciting products, some of which can be seen here. Photos can be tailored to your exact requirements, right down to the centimetre. Among the products available are prints on aluminium and prints on acrylic glass. Everything is of gallery quality finish and will look wonderful on your wall. Get in touch via the contact button with any queries.

Candleriggs (weather warning and additional dates).
04/12/2010
Unfortunately, due to snow and the expected fog, it looks as if I will struggle to get out of Airdrie and into Glasgow for the Merchant Square craft market this weekend (4th & 5th December).
I am looking to fit in some additional dates though, and hope to be in the market on 10th, 11th & 12th December, 17th, 18th &19th December and 21st, 22nd & 23rd December. Please also visit my Facebook page, as I can update this more quickly if the situation should change. I might also work Christmas Eve at , but I will probably have to do some last minute shopping myself. As I say, check both this page and the Facebook page to ensure you get the latest updates. Apolgies in advance if you were hoping to collect prints this weekend.
Visit me at Merchant Square craft market, Glasgow
26/11/2010
I'll be at Merchant Square craft market in Candleriggs every Saturday and Sunday until Christmas, from 11am-6pm. I might work there some extra days on top of that, details of which will be posted here.
As well as limited edition mounted prints, you can buy aluminium or acrylic glass photo products.

These are clean, contemporary, gallery quality finishes and ideal for home or office. Photographs also available on canvas, block mount or foamex. All photos can be printed to order in any format. Deposit required for orders.

If you can't decide what to buy, there will also be gift vouchers available. There are lots of new photos on display, many of which first editions, so I hope to see you there sometime.
Interview, New Images, Portraits & Gift Vouchers
13/11/2010
I was recently featured on the STV website, which carries an interview with me talking about my photography. If you didn't see it at the time, you can get a look here.
I've added a lot of photographs to the Architecture gallery and will be putting a few more on in the next few days. Also to be updated in the near future will be the Documentary gallery, so look back in for that in the next few days. I fear there will be plenty of this type of photo opportunity as repercussions from the coalition government's spending review begin to take hold. There are also some new shots in the Scotland gallery, capturing some nice autumnal light and colours.

I'm looking to push on with my portrait work, so if you are looking for something in the run up to Christmas, this this could be an ideal present. Examples of my portrait work can be found here . Talking of which, if you can't think of anything to get your friends and family, I am offering gift vouchers for my limited edition photography. Printed to order and bought directly from myself, you know that you are getting something that isn't mass produced. If you need any details on the above, please email me on info@tonyclerkson.com.

I'm also at Candleriggs Craft Market in the Merchant Square in Glasgow, every weekend until Christmas. Drop in if you're in the area, and pass on the word to anyone you think may be interested.

Cheers for looking in. Health & Safety!
New images and gallery added
14/08/2010
Lots of new photos added in various galleries including Scotland, Nature, London and Documentary. There's also a new gallery called Photodelica, which features some computer generated designs which, while not photographs in their own right, were born from original images.
Hope you enjoy them and if you have any comments feel free to get in touch with the contact form provided on the left of the page. There will soon be a gallery showcasing some wedding shots I've taken.

Also, I'd like to remind visitors that they can change the background colour from black to white and vice versa by clicking on the 'Select Canvas' boxes on the left panel. Some photos work better with one background colour over another.
Portraits
17/06/2010
I'm currently offering a portrait shoot in the Glasgow & Lanarkshire areas. Examples of my portraiture can be seen here.
The service includes a 12" x 8" print of your choice from the day from a professional photography lab. Your favourite photos can be enlarged and presented on canvas, wooden block or framed and ready to hang. If you require further details, please contact me on info@tonyclerkson.com.
A breath of fresh air
18/05/2010
Now that I'm back in Scotland I've decided to do something that passed me by when I lived here many moons ago, which is to take to the hills. People come from all over the world to walk though this stunning countryside, so it would be not to take advantage of some of the most beautiful scenery in the world when it's right on my doorstep.
Recently, I've climbed Ben Lawers via Beinn Glass, the Pap of Glencoe and Ben Venue, all very different walks but ones which rewarded us with some amazing views. It wasn't the best of weather or time of the day for landscape photography, but it's very handy to have scouted the locations and the scenery was breathtaking on all of the walks. Some photos can be found here in the Landscapes Gallery.

Some weeks ago, I went to see The Undertones at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow a few weeks back. A great night was had by all and the place was bouncing as the lads put in a top performance. Some shots from the night can be found in the Music gallery.

As well as landscape photography, I'll be looking to do some more portrait work. If you are looking to capture some special moments for you and your family, please get in touch for details of my summer offer.

That's all the news for the moment. If you have any questions about photo shoots, commissions or would like to buy a print, send an email to info@tonyclerkson.com and I'll endeavour to get back to you within 24 hours. Thanks again for visiting.

Tommy Gemmell testimonial dinner photographs
29/03/2010
I had the great pleasure of attending on Sunday the testimonial dinner for Celtic legend Tommy Gemmell, the marauding left back who scored for the Bhoys in two European Cup finals. It was a great night and I have added some photos to the Events gallery.
Among the famous Celts in attendance were his fellow Lisbon Lions, the lightning-quick, deadly finisher Bobby Lennox, the majestic captain Billy McNeill, gallus, hard and crafty Bertie Auld, the supreme sweeper John Clark and the man who netted the winner to seal an historic win, Stevie Chalmers. Jim Craig, who sportingly made a game of it by gifting Inter Milan an early penalty was there, as was goal machine Joe McBride, who was tragically injured halfway through that unforgettable season of 1967. Sean Fallon, who signed for Celtic a full 60 years ago, was in rude health as he reminisced with some of the men he helped to coach to, not only Celtic's finest hour, but a 'victory for football' over the defensive tactics of Inter that had threatened to suffocate the life out of the beautiful game.

Other great names from Celtic's past paid tribute, including John 'Yogi' Hughes, Dixie Deans, Danny McGrain, Davie Hay, George McCluskey, Neil Lennon and Murdo McLeod, who was looking well after recovering from a recent illness. Joe Harper and Willie Henderson, Aberdeen and Rangers legends respectively, were in attendance.

World snooker champion John Higgins was there as was, last but not least, global singing phenomenon, Susan Boyle. Apologies if I've missed anyone. As I say, it was a fine night and a fantastic tribute to a great Celt and I hope the photos do it justice.

Watermarks & Digital Economy Bill
27/02/2010
As a result of proposed legislation in the Digital Economy Bill, photographers' rights to get paid for their photographs are in danger of being eroded. Essentially, someone could use my photographs and, if they are not watermarked, say that they are 'orphans', ie the photograph and the photographer have got separated in cyberspace.
This 'orphanage' means that they would be able to lift the photos from my website, and the websites of thousands of other photographers, and use them for whatever reason they see fit. All they have to do is say they don't know who the photographer is.

All of my photos are embedded with hidden copyright notices, but there is a way around that. It would seem the only way around it is to add a digital watermark. I would prefer not to do this and it's not guaranteed to be effective in any case, someone could removed with image editing software. So, although it might not be a 100% guarantee that my work isn't pilfered, it might act as something of a deterrent. The images on the website are low resolution 72dpi, which means that if someone wanted to lift them and print them, they would be pretty limited in what size they could get a print without it looking terrible. The more likely thefts are likely to be online where people use them for their own websites without permission. These are people who should be paying.

There are a couple of links to this here if you would like further information:

As I said earlier, I will, in the days and weeks to follow, be adding visible watermarks to my photosgraphs. I know these watermarks can be annoying, although I will reduce the opacity to such a degree that I hope it doesn't overly affect your enjoyment of Tony Clerkson Photography.

Saatchi Gallery
16/12/2009
I’ve signed up to the Saatchi Gallery online showcase where artists and photographers can increase exposure for their work. It’s a great opportunity so a big thank you to those behind it. My profile is here.
Apart from that, I’m hoping to do a bit more landscape photography soon. So far, I’ve only managed a trip to South Queensferry to take a few shots of the Forth Road and Railway bridges. I’m looking forward to getting some cityscapes in Glasgow and Edinburgh in the near future as well as a bit of street photography. I’ll be adding a couple of new galleries in the next few days so drop back in soon.
Lost Contact Details
22/11/2009
Following on from the craft fair yesterday, I have inadvertently deleted the email that Kathleen B. sent me yesterday afternoon.
If you are back looking at the website Kathleen, can you re-send it please?
Today in Glasgow
21/11/2009

Today's event is held at Langside Hall, Langside Avenue, Glasgow, G41 2QR. This grand hall is situated at the corner of the beautiful Queens Park in the south side of Glasgow. For more details, visit www.glasgowcraftfairs.co.uk.
Update
03/11/2009
Did some shots for Belgian band Dogwalker during the filming of their new video to accompany their debut single. Can't post photos at the moment as they are embargoed until the official release, but they'll be in the Music/Gigs gallery in due course. Had a preview of the video today and it's looking good.
Relocation complete and now in central Scotland. As with the Brussels open house sales of photographs from previous exhibitions, I will be selling remaining work at half the original price to anyone who can get to Glasgow area for viewings. This will be sometime in the next few weeks after I move into my new flat. Anyone interested, let me know via the contact form.

Now that here, I'm hoping to get down to some landscape photography in the coming weeks to take advantage of the autumn colours. Watch this space.

If you would like to go onto a mailing list to be alerted to any news or events, or even new photos being added to the website, get in touch and I'll be happy to add you.

New gallery, photos and Twitter info
21/07/2009
Went down to Newcastle last week to take a publicity shot of ‘renegades of pop redux’ That Petrol Emotion, during their successful recent short tour, which included a gig at T In The Park.
Stuck around to take some photos of their soundcheck, but unfortunately had to miss the what turned out to be a great gig in order to get last train to Glasgow. This was an enjoyable first foray into music photography with the results in the new ‘Music/Gigs’ gallery.

Next up was a flying visit to London where I shot some famous landmarks, the view from Primrose Hill and some architectural abstracts. Photos added to the London, Abstract and Black & White galleries.

One other thing, I’ve joined Twitter. If you would like to follow my tweets (maybe I’m getting old, but this all sounds peculiar) then my Twitter name is ClerksonPhoto.
New website launched on 18th June 2009.
18/06/2009
Limited edition photographs, direct from the artist, for sale to private individuals or corporate clients and sure to brighten up any home or office environment.
As you browse the galleries, most of the images you see are for sale. Some, such as documentary, family photographs or buildings subject to copyright restrictions, are not. Photographs are also available to buy as stock images.

If you see a photograph you like but your preferred method of presentation isn’t available on the drop down menu, please get in touch via the Contact button to discuss options. Comments on the photographs are welcome, as is feedback on any aspect of the website.

Similarly, if you have a commission you might wish me to consider, do not hesitate to get in touch. Most of all, enjoy your visit. Please do come back again as the website will be updated regularly.
